Thank you for being our doula for the birth of our first child. We appreciate the time that you spent visiting with us as our due date drew near. The information you provided helped us to be well prepared and confident going into labor. During labor you worked really well with us to help support us to achieve our goal of natural childbirth. Your calming and reassuring presence and suggestions of positions and comfort techniques helped labor to progress quickly and smoothly. Before we knew it, we were holding our healthy, happy, baby girl in our arms! We are also so appreciative of your continuous support after the birth. The phone calls to check in on us, visits, dvds and books were a great help during this time of transition to parenthood. All in all, the pregnancy and birth has been an extremely positive and empowering experience and we sincerely thank you for everything.

First let me say that I am scared of everything. Needles, elevators, planes, you name it. When I discovered that I was pregnant, I was terrified and excited. What was I to do? My older sister recommended that I have a doula. That was some of the best advice ever! Mrs. Katrina Ball was heaven sent to me! She helped me understand pregnancy. She showed me how to move my body with different positions to manage the discomfort. She was amazing support and encouragement. In the delivery room, she made me comfortable and helped me focus. I could honestly say, I could not have done this without her. I had an amazing experience and now I have an amazing bundle of Joy. Jonathan and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Katrina has provided me with invaluable advice and support to help me prepare for the birth. She was always available to answer any questions I had and we also went through my birth plan and comfort / relaxation techniques during early and active labour. Her kind words of advice and support contributed to me having a successful vaginal birth without any pain medication. I would definitely recommend having Katrina as a doula.

After much debate on whether or not to acquire the services of a doula, we decided to do so. Our primary reason for the decision was to have someone assist us with the home portion of our laboring. However, as anyone will tell you, childbirth is almost never predictable, and we ended up having a scheduled C-section, due to a breech presentation. Therefore, though Katrina could not be present during our labor, she absolutely impressed us with her continual support and encouragement before and after the delivery.
The first few weeks of parenthood can be challenging, and we were absolutely amazed, and grateful how repeatedly Katrina would go above and beyond to make sure the transition was as smooth and as memorable as possible.
From the first day at the hospital Katrina continuingly provided us with encouragement, support and wisdom. She continually contacted us to make sure that we were doing well, and supported us when were faced with numerous challenges. She helped with everything from figuring out how to wear our new sling to how to latch on our son. Throughout the process, with her passion and enthusiasm Katrina’s filled the role of not just a doula, but a dear friend, who arrived at our door with a radiance of positivity, encouragement and support at a time we needed it most. Regardless what ridiculous questions, fears, or worries we had (and we had many!) we knew we could depend on Katrina to help put our minds at ease or assist us with finding solutions. She shared with us her wealth of knowledge, and was always willing to do additional research on questions she did not know the answers to; which was amazing, because as new parent, we found we had a lot of questions, but not a lot of time to do research to find the answers!
If anyone is debating on whether or not to hire a doula, do not hesitate for a moment, they are invaluable in helping you through situations you have not yet discovered you will need help with! In my opinion there could be no better person for that role then Katrina. Her passion for what she does is transparent in the dedication and enthusiasm she exemplifies every step of the way. Throughout the experience, Katrina and I shared tears and many laughs, and I will be forever grateful to have her as part of our birthing memories.

your needs, your choices, your way

I'd never heard of a doula before but hiring Katrina was the best decision ever. She gave us loads of invaluable information and I felt very informed and comfortable when it came time to have the baby. Her information was so in depth and does not compare to the hospital classes we also took. We were given many options about giving birth and how to care for our baby after he was born. At first I was scared and knew nothing about what was to come, but after one on one classes with Katrina and studying the books and videos she provided, I felt very confident about my ability to give birth and be a mom. If there was a question I asked that she did not know the answer to, she was prompt in finding the answer for me. The labor went so quickly and we were so prepared we ended up not needing her in the delivery room, but Katrina was still very helpful with breastfeeding questions I had and even visited us after Caleb was born. We would definitely recommend her services to anyone having a child, especially if it is your first. I could not have asked for a better teacher and coach during my pregnancy and I feel more prepared than ever when it comes time to have another one! Thank you Katrina for everything!
